In most cases, disability has substantially undermined an individual client's economic viability, thus requiring a strategy of pooling private and public dollars, and other community resources to create supported or independent living and autonomy from the family or parents. Examples of past client concerns resolved include: The twentysomething adult child with an emerging mental illness that is outstripping the health insurance benefit of the parents' insurance, or the recommended treatment options stress the financial resources of the family..... The fortysomething dependent adult child living with parents who are planning to move to assisted living or skilled nursing but first must create a viable independent living plan for the adult child ... The fiftysomething attorney who has successfully (and privately) managed bipolar disorder but has had a relapse requiring seperation from work, and needing long term disability benefits and asset rebalancing to move through a recovery plan... The adult with long term disability at mid life or older whose healthcare costs are depleting family assets and will be needing Medicaid-funded healthcare or long term care services in the near future...
