Our Clients' Outcomes
O'Connor Associates Inc was founded in 2001 and is entering its 10th year of service. During that tenure, we have served about 500 people to secure and maintain professional employment, maintain independent living, or create meaningful relationships and partnerships where an illness previously meant an isolated life. Some of our most proud and fun moments include... ...in 2004, providing daily telephonic care management from DC to a female shut-in with bipolar illness, island-bound consumer in Puget Sound, working with her and her 'team' over a year period in which she created a new medication and outreach program and returned to community-based living...and 40 pounds lighter; ... in 2006, providing care management to a young woman mired in self destructive behaviors who was guided through dialectic behavioral therapies which lead to longer tem emotional regulation, and later new skills to have and successfully manage a partner relationship, and later marriage and children; ....in 2000, assisting a single professional female who had suddenly lost her health and ability to perform an IT executive position and plunged into a prolonged acute psychotic state and involuntary institutionalization; following committed care and follow-along, this client regained her health, professional identity and all past savings spent during her illness episode (returned following our successful mediation of an employer-based Long Term Disability claim.... ...in 2008, an eighteen year old female client was historically labeled as having unmanageable borderline personality disorder; we stood firm that her personality was driven by substance dependence; after lengthy counseling and surrender from the client, she confronted her substance dependence, and her behavioral profile resolved (along with her use of psychiatric hospitalization as a coping resource for her chaotic lifestyle)...today, she is on track, finishing college, and shedding her invalid borderline personality label... These are just a few. We are working on an audiofile library of clients telling their own stories, which will be available here in the future. We are only part of the story; our work simply honors our clients in their personal abilities and capabilities beyond the illnesses that disable them...then they create a different life for themselves... Lastly, we serve some very tough illness profiles and personalities; we don't promise that we create great outcomes for everyone. We do, however, create stabilization and constructive care planning for ALL our clients, such that almost all our client's report that life is more stable, meaningful, and distress-free, regardless of the longer term life outcomes in the client's life. |
